Update From Colombia

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. Romans 8:26

As we continue to plug through the book of Romans, nothing ever hits home more than the verses that are preached on for that Sunday that apply to your life in that very moment. For those that do not know, our little baby bean was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot (4 defects within the heart) and a missing kidney and was not given the best of survival rates upon birth. We are praying for a miracle for her and wisdom for us and the doctors. It was certainly a struggle as Peter preached on Romans 8:26-29 two weeks ago, but the Lord knew before time that it was needed. We covet your prayers as we have had many phone calls, and I (Jamie) had a small procedure done to assess the best route to take upon birth, which also, our baby girl will need a surgery soon after that. God is good though and has provided some people with contacts of pediatric surgeons and hospitals in the U.S. if that is where the process should take us. In all of Colombia, there are only two potential surgeons that can do the surgery and one happens to be here in Medellín! Though it is a dark and uncertain, and at times, exhausting process, we thank you all for your prayers. We do give glory to God knowing He has formed our precious little one in the palm of His hands and loves her more than we could ever love her.

As for ministry and the church plant, we have seen some growth in numbers on Sundays reaching over 50+ most weeks! It has been a joy to walk alongside these people and have some new families attend. Please continue to pray for not just growth in numbers, but spiritually, which is of utmost importance.

At Kid’s Club we celebrated our first graduate, Juan David. He is turning 13 this Friday, which means he will be in Youth Group now. Please pray for him and his faith in Christ and to stay firm as we know the teenage years are very intense years.

Additional Prayer Requests:

  • Marissa officially had to leave Colombia at the end of August and it was recommended she try to apply for her visa starting Nov. 7. Pray that she gets it to be able to return!

  • Heidi’s pastor and family from Oregon are here for the week.

  • Upcoming baptism class

  • Shortly after the news of our baby, we got word the son of a lady in our church committed suicide. She desperately needs your prayers as well and the interceding of the Holy Spirit!
